Robert Fisk's Legacy

Robert Fisk holds a correspondent position at the British paper, The Independent, focusing on Middle East news. He remains one of the only journalists to interview Osama bin Laden, and he did so in Arabic. His fearless reporting style makes him stand out from him colleagues.

"It's a journalist's job to be a witness to history. We're not there to worry about ourselves. We're there to try and get as near as we can, in an imperfect world, to the truth and get the truth out."

This quote inspired me to pursue the field of journalism because the truth is rare and often exploited. Exposing the truth should be a journalist's soul responsibility. They believe in the people's right to know what is going on around them at any cost. A good journalist risks everything for the truth, including in some cases, their lives.
